Biography
Ashfin Islam is a litigation associate who focuses his practice on global privacy and data security compliance.
As a certified information privacy professional (CIPP/US), Ashfin works with clients to ensure compliance with state data privacy legislation and to review initiatives for compliance with state, federal and international privacy laws, including the E.U. General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA) and Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act (VCDPA). He also provides assurance, tax and advisory services to federal government entities, financial institutions, law firms, hospitals, universities and nonprofits.
Ashfin advises clients on the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), Sarbanes-Oxley, Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), securities, antitrust, consumer protection, student loan protection, tax and financial/donor reporting requirements for nonprofits, and other rules.
He is also experienced in contract negotiation and administration, as well as startup fundraising, and has experience serving clients in the renewable energy and cannabis industries.
Background
Prior to joining Armstrong Teasdale, Ashfin served as an associate at a Boston-based law firm. Before that, he was vice president of legal and regulatory affairs for a digital health company.
